Hi from me: Diane, who runs this friendly, sociable business, whose purpose it is to provide colourful patchwork and quilting events for you to escape away to. Welcome! To create a sewing community where you can be inspired and motivated with your projects and make friends at the same time is a pretty awesome task.
Stitchscape is a sewing studio servicing the southern Merseyside region and into West Cheshire. In February 2024 I opened a brand new space to share with sewists in my garden - it's called The Yurt.
I have been running workshops and sewcials since I set up my first studio in Newton-le-Willows in 2015. When I moved to Neston, I taught at Love Stitch in Heswall and I opened a small space at a fabulous venue in Liverpool called Merseymade from November 2019 but you can guess which pandemic ruined that for me.
From the summer of 2021 to 2022 I ran a patchwork sewing group in Moreton Community centre on the Wirral.
I have run three brilliant sewing retreats at the 4* Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa.
My next retreat is in October and is very exclusive. 3 nights stay in Cheshire somewhere. But where? Sign up to the newsletter to find out
I have a LONGARM QUILTING MACHINE and offer teaching experiences on the Handiquilter Moxie XL machine. Once you do two of those private lessons, you can quilt your own project on the machine I call Lady Mollington. If that scares you too much, I also do commissions, so you're sorted either way.
So what are you waiting for? Get reading and if you have any queries please do get in touch to learn more.
My studio is in a building called the Yurt, in my garden in Neston, Cheshire. It's not made of canvas as you can see but it was nicknamed that during construction. I'll tell you the story when you visit.
It has a very practical yet cosy feel, with all the tools to help with your sewing, as well as people to form a community with and understand your enjoyment of all things patchwork and quilting.
The sewcials just have 4 people attending, so that's a nice small group to give inspiration and support to and receive lots of help, advice and friendship in return.
Let's get sewing.
To make bookings - check the sewcials and workshops page.
The inside of my studio still needs alot of things sorting out, as I only opened it a week ago in February 2024.The design wall will be erected properly with another board to add to it. That'll be so worth it as it'll almost span the width of that back wall. I've never had one before, so I find that exciting!
All the tools and equipment are in there to help you with your sewing but you do need to bring your sewing machine and fabrics for your projects of course. Many people prefer to use their own rotary cutters etc as you're used to them but it's good to know you have back up and don't have to bring cutting mats and irons etc. There's a big table in the kitchen area which is set up for cutting mainly. The contents of the website shop are hidden in the back room too. So if you wanted to grab a quick cuppa before or after cutting (as come on, we all know cutting is nobody's fave task) please feel free!
Do you have a question about my products or my process? Send me a message, or give me a call. This is a place for sew-a-holics and people who have an inkling that sewing might be their new joy.
