Let’s see what’s what in this studio

I’ve recently had some fab feedback from a new lady to the studio.

Angela has been for a couple of evening sewcials and has decided that the Tuesday evenings are easier for her to attend. That’s excellent for her! She seized the moment and came along a couple of times to see for herself what goes in the studio and found an easier option to make her life flow smoother and yet give her the down time to sew she wants. Result! The Tuesday Sewcialists gain from her adding to the creative mix and she gains from having an escape place to sew amongst others who love that too.

Angela did make a valid point though. Although I tell people that the newsletter is the best way to get information about what’s happening at the studio, I rarely put photos in there to inspire and inform. Duh! How hadn’t I noticed that? How come I only put photos and videos of people’s work on social media eg. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter? I’ll tell you why! It’s because I get so much business advice telling me that social media is the best way to connect with people who will benefit from Stitchscape. Instead of listening to my gut and focusing on that, I’ve been straying . I’m the Gypsy Rose Lee of Newton! Tut Tut me! If I had a personal business advisor, I suspect I’d get a slap wrist and rightly so.  I don’t have one, so I’m giving myself the kick up the derriere instead!

Being a solopreneur is mental busy and I do not do everything right or in the order I could. My time is limited the same as everyone elses. I have a family, dogs, cleaning, time-out and all those things to do, the same as you. I do work very hard but still have mess-ups, the same as you. This business is my choice though. I have to take it on the chin and continue to develop and improve things to benefit us all.

Right, come on Diane, enough with the excuses I hear you think! (hey, maybe I am spookily intuitive like that! )

What are you going to do about it?

Right, ok! I’m on it! To make the most effective use of both my and your time, I’ve decided that I will do a weekly blog post about what has been going on. I hope to make it into a kind of powerpoint presentation of photos, so it’s not all my long winded words. My words will make an appearance though! Can’t help myself. Less of the long-winded though is the plan.

I can then share the blog post on social media and in the newsletter. Job done. Making better use of my time, giving you the information you need to help you make the right decisions for yourself and doing more of the actual stuff we love.

Bring it on!

Whoa! This post took me hours. Swear words and growls were used in the making of this post.

I wish I could make the comments box appear for you too but it has been eluding me for a while. If you’re a WordPress guru, feel free to contact me.

This post is far from perfect and neither is the Google drive version of the powerpoint but it is a step in the right direction. One step at a time.
