Workshops calendar

Here’s our workshop calendar. It has most of the new 2016 sessions on it, including the new teens’ summer sewing club and the lampshade making class in August, and the retreat… and loads of good stuff. So grab a brew and your diary (oh and a pen would be useful) and fit in some dates for ‘me time’ in your busy schedule.

In addition to the sessions I run, Celia Banks aka Sew Fundamental Ltd, is also using Stitchscape for some of her sessions (Celia is a bit of a gadabout and teaches all over the place including the stitching shows, Janome headquarters and Abakhan). Celia has been teaching dressmaking and fitting for a long time and is a qualified Palmer/Pletsch Certified Sewing Instructor and is one of only two such instructors in the U.K, so I’m mighty chuffed that we have someone like that using our escape space.

Sometimes it’s just so much easier seeing the pdf document and then you can print it off and read it ‘properly’. All this techy stuff is fine but I’m an old bird, so sometimes a piece of paper just does it for me. So here’s an overview of all sewing sessions at the studio.

Sewing workshops in Cheshire

If you’d like to be reminded of which sessions are available, I do send out a weekly e-newsletter which lets you know all about the goings-on and updates at the studio. You’ll find the sign-up form on the top right hand side of this page. The workshop schedule can be a changeable beast, dependant on customer requests, so the newsletter is definitely the way to keep ahead of the game.

Please ensure that you read the FAQ at the bottom of this page and every workshop page, before booking any workshops.

FAQ

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

There is a bus stop almost right outside the studio on Southworth Road and Arriva buses run regularly on the route.

There is a car park next to the building. Stitchscape takes no responsibility for your vehicle whilst parked there. You enter the building from Southworth Road, through the front door. Press the number 2 button next to the door and the door will be opened for you.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, I will have a record of who is attending each event once you have paid for your place.

What is the refund policy?

All refunds are discretionary, unless the event is cancelled by Stitchscape. No refunds though will be given unless a minimum of seven days notice is provided. The tutor’s time is non refundable and this needs to be considered.

Are refreshments provided?

Yes indeed; tea/coffee and soft drinks and biscuits/sweets are provided. Any particular requirements with speciality teas and milk will need to be provided by you though. There is a small kitchen across the hall from the studio, so very convenient for when you’re feeling parched after a heavy batch of stitching. You could keep any sandwiches/snacks in the fridge too. If you come to a full day event, Trebaron garden centre has a large cafe and is just across the road.

Do you provide sewing machines?

You need to provide your own sewing machine. This is the best way, as each machine has it’s own quirky ways and knowing your own machine, helps your sewing skills along quite alot. I do suggest getting your machine serviced regularly by a professional such as R.Bullock & Son in Wigan. If your machine has been left dormant for long periods, allsorts of problems can arise. There are a couple of machines you can hire for the session at a cost of £2 per machine. Please also bring your own fabric, thread, pins and any tools you need for the project you’re completing. There are rulers, cutting mats, rotary cutters, scissors and basic haberdashery available but if you bring your own, you won’t have to wait at all. There is also a Sizzix Big Shot machine with some Bigz dies if you need to use that for doing applique or patchwork cutting. I also have a Cricut die cutting machine which has endless possibilities for cutting shapes out of cotton if required – this needs to be arranged beforehand.

Is Wi-fi available?

Yes. This is perfect for watching any Youtube videos together or for putting our own tutorial videos onto Youtube or the website. It also means that you can stay in touch with everyone, whilst you spend hours stitching at the studio. You can also snap a photo of your latest creation and get it ‘out there’ onto social media networks immediately, so everyone can praise your skills.

  1. How much is it for sewing lessons please

    • Stitchscape says:

      Hi Christine
Thanks so much for getting in touch. Prices vary for different sessions but most two hour workshops with me as the tutor are £20 each. I also have tutors like Karen Lewis and Jenny Haynes using the studio for different sessions. The basic price list is at the back of the workshop calendar which you can download by clicking on the ‘escape’ photo at the centre of this page. I would strongly advise you to sign up for the newsletter too, as that gives you regular updates on what is going on. Here’s the link for you to do that – http://eepurl.com/bpYBLT. Or you could email me directly on diane@stitchscape.uk and I’ll do it for you and give you any extra information you’d like.
      Regards
      Diane

Did you get my email reply Christine? I have a variety of sessions available. I’m currently doing my best to improve this page to make it far easier to read and get info but I’m no tech whizz. Please do email diane@stitchscape.uk if you still haven’t had the reply. Thanks.
