Does this sound like you?

You been craving focused time to sew without distractions, but everyday life keeps stealing your creative energy..

• Your sewing has started to feel stuck in a rut, and you're longing to reignite that spark of learning and flow.

What if things could be different?

Imagine waking up surrounded by colour, calm, and creativity.

No interruptions, no half-finished chores — just the gentle hum of sewing machines and the laughter of women who get it. You’ve got space to breathe, focus, and finally sink into your stitching without glancing at the clock.

You’re learning, experimenting, and growing again.

Helen’s guidance feels like a friendly nudge rather than a test, and every new section builds your confidence. You start to see your quilt — and yourself — coming together piece by piece, and it feels such fun. This is what you're capable of. You'll show 'em!

You’re part of something special.

There’s warmth in the room, shared stories over tea, and that familiar sense of belonging that only happens when creative souls gather. You leave feeling brilliant — your mind calm, your creativity buzzing, and you are ready for whatever comes next- including making the rest of the quilt!.. just sayin' 😜

Why We’re Bringing This Retreat to Llangollen

Because the Northwest deserves world-class quilting magic too.

Hi, I’m Diane from Stitchscape, and I’ve been running patchwork and quilting retreats, workshops and community sewing spaces for over 10 years. Carie, my co-host, runs Bright Quilting right there in Llangollen, complete with her long-arm studio and a thriving local quilting community. We’re both based in the northwest — and we know how few opportunities there are in our region to learn directly from the big-name designers and specialist teachers we admire.

That’s exactly why we’re bringing Helen Creasey — all the way from southwest London — to teach her Blooming Mandala quilt with us. It means you don’t have to travel hundreds of miles to access her teaching. Instead, we’re bringing that world-class experience right to your doorstep.

And beyond the teaching, this retreat is about giving you space to press pause, sew with like-minded people, and enjoy a proper creative holiday in one of the prettiest towns in North Wales. If you don’t always get the chance to sew with others during the year, this is your moment — three days to reconnect, create, and feel part of something joyful. All whilst developing your patchwork skills.

Which is why we're soooo excited to introduce:

The Mandala patchwork retreat

Your creativity just got a promotion — let’s see what it can do with a mandala.

Treat yourself to a long weekend of vibrant fabrics, laughter and luxurious sewing time. With Helen Creasey’s expert guidance and the girl Friday vibes of Stitchscape × Bright Quilting, you’ll master new techniques and stitch a quilt that turns heads (including your own).

Helen has won awards for this quilt, which was a great feeling, obvs, but she also loves seeing other people's take on her patterns and helping them to know how to use the techniques too. Her business is called 'AndSewI'. Go learn more about her by clicking on that photo on the right.

The button below will get you amazing results too! 😜

FAQs

Will you tell us what fabrics to bring with?

You’ll receive a detailed packing and prep list well before the retreat, including fabric requirements for the Mandala Quilt, your usual sewing essentials, and optional extras to make your space feel like home.

Is this retreat suitable for beginners?

It’s best suited to confident sewists who already have some patchwork experience and want to develop their skills. If you’ve ever followed a quilt pattern before or pieced a few tops, you’ll be right at home. Be open to learn and make mistakes is the key factor here for everyone.

Do I need to bring my own sewing machine?

Yes, please bring your own sewing machine that you’re comfortable using. Consider bringing an led table light too if your machine's lights aren't great. If you’re travelling from afar and this isn’t possible, contact us — we may be able to arrange a loan machine.

Can I come alone - will people mix with me?

Absolutely! Many of our guests come solo. You’ll be warmly welcomed into a friendly, like-minded community — by the end of day one, you’ll feel like you’ve been sewing together for years. That's the whole idea of the first day i.e to get everyone settled and acquainted with the people around them as they sew.

Will there be free time?

Yes, definitely—gentle pockets to rest, stroll, chat, or simply sip a cuppa between sewing sessions. This is no sweat shop retreat!

Can I add an extra night?

Usually possible, subject to venue availability—ask when booking.
