ABOUT

SEWING. ENJOYING. CONNECTING.

A place for sewing together in our patchwork groups and workshops, patchwork retreats, as well as a longarm quilting machine.

HIYA!

I'm Diane

– the founder, stitching cheerleader and community weaver behind Stitchscape.

I started Stitchscape over 10 years ago, not just as a business, but as a remedy for the kind of creative loneliness that only fellow sewists will truly understand. I’d been sewing at home, alone, for too long—bursting with patchwork ideas, mini triumphs, and occasional disasters, but with no one to share them with who really got it.

I craved connection. I wanted somewhere warm, colourful, and inspiring—where people could chat and laugh, just as much as they stitched. Somewhere comfy and well-equipped, where you could feel your shoulders drop in relaxation, the moment you walked in. Somewhere that wasn’t a freezing cold church hall with wobbly kid-sized chairs and questionable carpets

The thing is—those halls were full of brilliant, talented women. And it broke my heart that they were sharing their passion in such uninviting spaces. So I created something better.

It all started...

...in Newton-le-Willows in 2015 and has seen four different studios since then. The 'Yurt' is the current space - It’s more than a studio. It’s a soft landing. A spark. A chance to reconnect with creativity, confidence, a sense of self and to top it all - community.

What I bring to the table (besides Club biscuits & Werthers originals):

✂️ 10+ years running joyful workshops, retreats & sewcials

🌈 A passion for making creativity feel fun, not pressured

🧵 A welcoming, safe community full of encouragement (and not a cold church hall in sight)

💬 A deep belief in conversation, connection & shared experience

☕ A love of handmade projects, especially Patchwork, British makers & colour in all forms.

If you're looking for a sewing home where your patchwork is celebrated (wonky seams and all), and where you're always greeted with a smile and a spare bobbin, you're in the right place.

30 Days to Sewing Time You’ll Actually Steal for Yourself

Take one small action a day and end the month with a colourful bundle you’ll be proud of — and a habit of making time just for you.

Some fun facts about me...

Colour is such a vital way for me to express myself and to help me feel better.

Black & dark green = NO

Orange, purple and fluorescent pink = YES

I love horses and recently I got to ride again after almost a 20 year break - it was fab! I can still do it!

I have lived in many places in the world and qualified as a teacher back in 1987. I left, as the system wouldn't let me be the teacher I knew was needed and I was a single mum.

I believe in the power of making to achieve real sustainable connection to ourselves and positive impact on our world. It's where we can take control.

I have a 14 year old cocker spaniel who now gets away with doing what he likes and a hubby, I call 'him indoors', who does the same -thankfully, as that leaves me in peace to sew!

I'm 60 but now feel an even greater need to be of service to what I'm passionate about- it keeps my brain active for sure.
